Minnetonka City Council Approves Senior Housing Overhaul
In a move to revamp Senior Housing, the City Council of Minnetonka has paved the way for the elderly to get a modern place to call home. The council, during its April 22 meeting, passed measures authorizing the overhaul of senior residential buildings at 15407 and 15409 Wayzata Blvd. The project, helmed by Greco Properties, LLC, promises to eradicate the dilapidated structure currently at the site to make room for two new buildings. These structures will house 121 independent living quarters for seniors alongside areas dedicated to assisted living and memory care, adding up to 40 units, as per the City of Minnetonka.
With an eye on the future, and seemingly with the same breath they used to celebrate their past in recognizing a retiring police captain, the council cast a unanimous vote for the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP). This ambitious blueprint is geared toward slashing greenhouse gas emissions with targets set for 2030 and 2050. By adopting the CAAP, the city has committed to a path of sustainable growth, detailed in strategies directed at homes, businesses, and municipal operations, as outlined in the official announcement.
In addition to committing to a greener future, the council demonstrated its dedication to fostering mobility and accessibility. The Hopkins Crossroad Trail Improvements project, worth just over $3.5 million, was greenlighted and awarded to Park Construction Company. This project notably aims to link to a regional trail system, a Metro Transit Park and Ride facility, and two schools, therefore facilitating smoother and safer travel, as reported by the City of Minnetonka.
